In our previous issue, we announced TOKIO HOTEL’s arrival in our country for TM Connects. Consisting of four young men that hail from Germany, TOKIO HOTEL fulfilled the dreams of all Malaysian teenagers hoping to witness them perform their Pop Rock songs, some of which have become the teens' staple music. The holy date that happened to fall on Labour Day, 1st May 2010 proved that those of us at Central Park Avenue, One Utama were among the lucky chosen ones to see their performance with our own two eyes! The Best Interact winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards caused many fans to pass out and go hysterical that day. Haa, and those are the memories of this cute German band!

TOKIO HOTEL’s Press Conference

At one in the afternoon, after attending the wedding function of one of our GEMPAK writers, Harry (congratulations, dude!), we all rushed to One World Hotel, Damansara. Rubbing our eyes in disbelief and pinching our own cheeks, we were all stunned to see TOKIO HOTEL before our very eyes. Along with our fellow media partners, we took the opportunity to ask the four of them all kinds of questions. Millions of thanks to Universal Music Malaysia, especially Azri, who were very helpful. Here, check out what we managed to dig out of TOKIO HOTEL!

• The most dominant band member is Bill Kaulitz
  
• They started playing their music at 15 years old
  
• The joker of the band, Georg Listing, is constantly on the wrong end of Tom Kaulitz’s bullying
  
• Character: Bill – egoistic, Tom – pure, Georg – messy, Gustav – quiet
  
• Bill was once so ill, he had to undergo surgery to fix his vocal chords
  
• The next album – a little bit experimental but still full of the TOKIO HOTEL spirit

The masses came for TOKIO HOTEL

We were told by the organisers that TOKIO HOTEL’s fans started waiting in line to enter the concert area since twelve noon! TOKIO HOTEL fever swamped Kuala Lumpur and more than 3,000 fans were present that night. We had the pleasure of witnessing many things – fans with signs, fans with posters, and not forgetting fans dressed ala TOKIO HOTEL! All because of their love for their number one favourite band! Endless is our salute to you all, who were willing to endure the blazing heat while waiting and not moving an inch, even when the rain came pouring down that night! Respect!

TOKIO HOTEL rule the stage

After a performance from Bunkface, we were forced to wait over half an hour for TOKIO HOTEL to appear onstage. Maybe because they strived for a perfect sound system, so they took a long time to set up everything they needed? Maybe, maybe not! Not long after that, they appeared and the fans all went hysterical as if they were possessed by ghosts!

• Tom and Georg acted as backing vocals for the next song, ‘Shadow’ and their hit song, ‘Automatic’ as well as ‘Darkside of the Sun’.
  
• The crowd was mesmerised by the persona Bill brought along, ala Adam Lambert. His vocals were definitely perfect as he sang the songs ‘Ready Set Go’ and ‘Dogs Unleashed’.
