All about Tokio Hotel :)
TOKIO HOTEL is identical twin brothers, Bill (vocals) and Tom Kaulitz (guitar), Georg Listing (bassist) and Gustav Schäfer (drums).
How it all started...
At a young age, Tom and Bill have shared a dream in the midst of their horrid school-life: They wanted to make music and write songs. Fueled by this, Tom and Bill (12) played at band competitions and in small clubs like the Gröninger Bad under the band name "Black Question Mark" (derived from the German Schwarz Fragezeichen). It was from this that bassist, Georg (14) and drummer, Gustav (13) decided to join them. All four of them had a common wish which is to make music.
From then onwards, Black Question Mark began to rock out in various clubs, developing and increasing their fanbase as they went along.
They decided to change their name when Bill read a newspaper snippet one day.
So Black Question Mark was changed to Devilish.
Getting there...
With Devilish in Loitsche and their closest city being Magdeburg, chances of them getting known were very small. That was when Bill decided to make a decision: in 2003, he applied for the talent show, StarSearch, hoping for someone to see the band. Despite the fact that the androgynous thirteen-year-old lost in the quarter finals, his hard work paid off and a team of producers from Hamburg came to see one of Devilish's concert in Magdeburg.
They were not disappointed.
At the young age range of 13 to 15, they were first signed to BMG. However, at the end of 2004 when the companies of Sony and BMG decided to merge, the verdict was settled: they didn't want to sign Devilish. The boys were crushed: Bill didn't smile for about a week and Tom wanted to give up at that moment. But everything was not ending yet.
Universal decided that they wanted the band.
And from then till now, the band called themselves Tokio Hotel.
A Blooming Success in the making...
Despite being new in the entertainment industry, the band stood firm in standing for what they wanted. They didn't want other people telling them what to wear and how to do this. They were adamant in what they wanted, so stylists were quickly "taken off the schedule".
In July 2005 before the release of their first single, Bravo featured a doublespread page about the "Neue Superband" (New Superband). Many people were skeptical about this and had strong doubts against the band. However, everything was proven a fallacy when Tokio Hotel's first single, "Durch den Monsun" (Through the Monsoon) became a mega hit when it was released in August 2005. It shot to #1 in the same month, causing a frenzy.
Due to their ever-growing success, the band found it hard to go back to school as reporters, fans and journalists. So, they were discharged from school for a year due to the chaotic turn of events.
Tokio Hotel won the Comet Award in 2005 for "Best Band", achieved Gold and Platinum for their single and raked award after award. There seemed to be no end to their success. As their award cupboard grew, so did their fan base and their concert locations. From their tiny 5-person club, they were soon having sold-out concerts for 12.000 screaming fans. Since then, the band have sold 5 over records as well as DVDs. They are the most successful German band in 20 years. They have also gone gold and/or platinum, (multiple in some cases), in countries like France, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy Czech Republic, Poland, Belgium and Russia after the release of their album, Schrei.
The success of the band was an absolute explosion. Conquering more and more people everyday, Tokio Hotel got as many French fans as German ones.In 2006, Goethe Institut reported that German is the most spoken foreign language in France. All thanks to these four boys!
Three singles from their next album, Zimmer 483 went into the top 5 in Germany and into the top of the charts in other European countries. The Zimmer 483 Tour went to 12 European countries.
It may seem that not only does the band break records and have sold-out concerts, they too have changed the face of history. On 14. July 2006, Tokio Hotel played in front of 500.000 fans at the invitation of the French president. They played underneath the Eiffel Tower on the French National holiday - one of their biggest performance.
Breaking borders and boundaries...
In September 2007, just after the 18th birthday of the twins, DDM also conquered the Israel music charts. Thanks to a petition of fans to get Tokio Hotel to perform in Tel Aviv, they were the first German band to appear on the covers of Israeli teen mag, "Rosh Echad".
They also created more history when they were the first German band to be nominated under two International Awards in the European Music Awards (EMA's) in November 2007, by which they took home the award for Best Inter-Act. They performed Monsoon during the event, changing many people's negative thoughts about them. With gallons of water splashing down upon them, Tokio Hotel's performance was rated as the best performance of the evening!
What's next?
It was time Tokio Hotel took over the USA.
However like everything else, their road to success was rocky. No one really knew who Tokio Hotel were. But due to the influence of airplay's and radio, trial concerts at New York and Los Angeles were sold out. The band didn't stop working. Immediately after travelling to America, they scheduled for their third European tour. Then, the shock...
Bill's Voice
In March 2008, Tokio Hotel's 1.000 Hotels Tour and a scheduled North America tour had to be cancelled due to the forming of a cyst in Bill's throat. He had to go back to Germany for an operation as medicine wasn't going to help him. If he had let the infection carry on, his vocal chords would've been damaged permanently. Tokio Hotel had started to perform again in May 2008.
US and DVDs
Tokio Hotel continued on with their North America Tour. The band's "Ready, Set, Go!" was nominated for "Best Pop Video" at the 2008 MTV Video Awards (they arrived at the Red Carpet in a monster truck), where they won Best Newcomer. Then, in November, Tokio Hotel picked up another award, “Best Headliner” and the MTV European Music Awards in Liverpool. Within just a few weeks after that, their latest DVD, Caught on Camera, went double platinum in France, gold in Portugal and entered the USA charts at #6.
The third album...
In between the North America Tour, Tokio Hotel returned to their studio in Hamburg to begin recording their third album, Humanoid. The album release date was pushed back several times due to various reasons.
In early this year, Tokio Hotel was stalked by four groupies who call themselves, Les Afghans au Tour (The Afghans on tour) for the past half year. The stalking ended when Tom punched one of the stalkers in the face. She promptly sued him for alleged assault and it is said that Tom might have to face 5 years in jail. This, however is not confirmed.
And things just got worse when reports of Gustav being hit over the head with a bottle in a Mageburg club graced the Internet. However, Gustav himself says that "everything is OK" and that it is "healing perfectly".
On 10. August 2009, MTV announced that the band's first single from the new album was going to be Automatisch/Automatic. On 3. September, the videos for both songs were released worldwide.
The album, Humanoid, was first released in Germany and other European countries on 2. October 2009, while the English version was released in the United States on the 6. October. It can be found anywhere worldwide now.
On 2. November, it was announced on Tom's Blog that the second single from the album would be "World Behind My Wall" and its German counterpart, "Lass Uns Laufen". Both music videos were released on the 14. and 15. December respectively.
"We'll go on."
Private life: none; contact with friends: difficult; birthday on tour: the norm...
The course again is set for success. In the past four years, Tokio Hotel has accomplished more than any other German band. And so far, there's no end in sight.
"The secret for their success is basically the band's strength."
"That's the most important thing about Tokio Hotel: They are pop stars, heart and soul."
"They've tasted the success, they know the feeling. And it's in their genes, and they won't retire at 20. No way."
"They are so immensely ambitious. I don't think this is the end of it but rather the beginning."
Keep coming back for more updates on TH. We here at THMYFF are proud to call ourselves fans and will devote anything to increase the fan base of our beloved German band. From the biography, it is clear that TH DOES deserve whatever they're achieving and we're glad that you somehow managed to find them.

Georg
It's simply my life, my dream, my everything. And the other three boys are my best friends. And I wouldn't want to have it any other way.
Bill
I don't have to think about what I'm going to do with my life because I made the decision once and there's basically only one direction.
The course again is set for success. In the past four years, Tokio Hotel has accomplished more than any other German band. And so far, there's no end in sight.
Tom
Probably there are a few records we broke as a German, but I want more.
Gustav
You want to fly again, to have stress again, you want to haul your suitcase from A to B.
Tom
But I think it would be crap when you lean back and know, "Oh, we've achieved about everything". I think I don't even want to come to that point. And as I know ourselves, we probably won't ever come to it.
You can always go further and higher.
And as long as that's the case, we'll go on.

This is really well-written, Yan! Two thumbs up. (let's pretend it's holding its thumbs in the air ok?)
I love all the quotations you added. Made my heart feel like bursting, how they're so determined to succeed and strive even further. The sky really is the limit for a band like Tokio Hotel. They're stars that are never going to fade away.
Not if we can help it.
